Here at New River Royalty, we are not new to the cat breeding world. We bred Persian Cats for over 10 years, but when Yoda, the Snow Lynx Bengal came into the family, we realized playful and dog-like cats were more our preference.
Our first Oriental Shorthair, Annika, set the bar. Her Velcro-Kitty personality made us fall in love. All of our OSH kitties are that sweet, attention-loving, social cats and they love to play fetch with their favorite toy and run on the cat wheel! They are the most entertaining cats we've ever had. We love our Bengals too, but OSH have our hearts! You would love them too!

Firstly, their look. These gorgeous, sweet kitties, are often call "Bat-Cats" or "Dobby-Kitties" with their hilarious, yet adorable ears. Besides their sweet, silly looks, their personalities put them above all other cats. Oriental Shorthair Cats are notoriously playful, entertaining, and very social cats. They demand attention, want nothing but love, and will always want to do what you are doing. Playing fetch, going to do tasks in other rooms, sitting on the couch, no matter what, there will be an OSH around to be your sweet companion. They 'honk" at you!
What makes us unique? First of all, my Veterinarian, Amber Melton, DVM and I have joined forces to raise this breed. She is Carousel OSH and we are New River Royalty. So we work together to make sure that all cats and kittens receive all the proper health care. And we also believe in the importance of our cats being "underfoot" Meaning they live with us and we don't cage them. This limits our ability to produce "numbers" but we are looking for quality, healthy kittens that come to you socialized in our homes. They become accustomed to our other pets and people.
If you purchase from us, we are happy to help you take that journey! I have stopped doing a waitlist. I have found that everyone wants to be on a waitlist, but when the time for adoption comes, not everyone will be ready and that creates lots of work for me. Rather, just keep a watch on my website and I will post when we have kitties available. THE COST OF KITTENS IS $3,000. This breed is very fragile when born and are difficult to raise until they reach about 12 weeks of age. They tend to become hardy at that point. This is one reason why they cost so much. There is a reason why everyone doesn't do it! It is level 10 difficult to raise this breed. But they are so worth it! They are the dogs of the cat world. We will keep you updated along the way with photos and videos of your new fur-baby! When travel time comes available, we are happy to have you come pick up your baby, we can meet you within driving distance, or we'd even be happy to help you with Air Travel. There are Pet Flight Nannies, or if time allows, we'll be happy to personally fly them to their destination (for a fee)!
Yes, we offer a 1-year health guarantee on genetic and congenital issues. All of our adult cats are Wisdom Panel/Basepaws Tested and we take pride in ensuring that our babies are healthy and in the best health possible. I also recommend taking out the free insurance coverage I provide.
